Tiruchirappalli: A Tamil Nadu-based shop owner has announced that he will provide T-shirts for 50 paise under the inaugural promotion scheme. After that there was a ruckus in his shop due to the huge crowd, which the police had to intervene and get the shop closed. Hakim Mohamed had advertised the proposal with posters, which were being seen in Manapparai. Local WhatsApp groups were also flooded with offers.

A huge crowd created a ruckus due to the proposal coming from 9 am to 1 pm on Thursday. People gave 50 paise at the counter and climbed to the first floor to claim the T-shirt. However, after the mob blocked the road, the police intervened and forced the owner to close the shop and allowed it to open only after 1 pm.

Hakim Mohammad told media persons that he had stocked more than 1,000 cotton T-shirts to give for 50 paise, but only 100 were sold due to the uproar and police intervention. He said that even after the shop reopened after 1 pm. Many people came to the shop with a 50 paise coin but had to send it back due to the expiry of the offer period.
