An unprecedented migration crisis has arisen in Tunisia as thousands of undocumented migrants have flocked to the coastal city of Sfax in recent months with the intention of traveling to Europe on boats operated by human traffickers.

Following days of fighting between locals and migrants in Sfax, Tunisia relocated hundreds of migrants this month to a barren region near the border.

This week, the government relocated the migrants to shelters in two towns after receiving complaints from local and international rights organizations that the authorities were endangering the lives of the migrants.
