ISTANBUL:  In a meeting held in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, Parliamentary Speakers of Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan declared that the new century is the "Asian century," one that is full with prospects.

At the second trilateral conference of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan, Mustafa Sentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, said that "the world's geo-politics and economic centres are migrating towards Asia, and it's occurring fast."

Without a doubt, the New Silk Road's emergence will hasten the region's development and revitalization,  Sentop said. And with our new transport routes and energy transfer infrastructure investments, our new initiative "Middle (Transport) Corridor" will be playing a significant role in that project, he added.

The trilateral meeting highlighted the significance of bolstering comprehensive cooperation between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan, particularly in areas that would support regional connectivity, transport, trade, energy, inter-personal relations, education, social and cultural exchange, and tourism.

Turkiye has been investing heavily in the Middle Corridor initiative, which would act as a bridge between China and Europe through railroads and provide a more efficient transfer than the northern land routes or the southern naval route of the Suez Canal. Turkiye has most of its lands in Asia and some in Europe.
