Twitter, which is very much liked by users, has recently made a disclosure. According to it, there has been an investigation related to improper use of users' phone numbers and email IDs for the benefit of advertising. In that investigation, there may be a directive from the company to pay a fine of up to $ 250 million to the US Federal Trade Commission FTC. The company received a complaint on July 28 from the FTC.

In that complaint, the FTC was accused of violating Twitter's consent order in 2011. It was also told, 'Do not mislead users about how their personal information is protected by the company.' On the other hand, Twitter talked about this during its second-quarter financial filing on Monday. It said, 'The allegation was from the use of data related to the company's phone number and / or email ID for security purposes for targeted advertising between the period 2013 to 2019'.

Twitter also said, 'The company estimates that the potential loss in this context will be between $ 150 million to $ 250 million and the company has received $ 150 million'. The matter has not been resolved yet and no definite time limit can be assured about when the final results will be received.
