Two people have been detained in Margherita by the Tinsukia Police for allegedly being involved in drug trafficking in the region.
According to a police source, the two were arrested after receiving specific information about the presence of some suspects at a residence along the Assam-Arunachal border. Based on the information, the police performed a raid and were successful in retrieving a small number of illegal substances.
The recovered drug was thought to be brown sugar, according to the source, and this is being verified. Tarun and another woman have been identified as the people who were detained. After the legal processes, they will be remanded to judicial custody. Earlier last month, Nagaon Police apprehended 9 more drug smugglers, including women, in four different raids.
Nagaon Police stated its Anti-Narcotics Squad carried out serial operations in Nagaon and Rupahihat regions, sharing photos of the apprehended drug dealers. The Anti-Narcotics Squad found a large number of narcotics intended for distribution, according to the report.
"Our Anti-Narcotics Squad launched four drug-busting operations in Nagaon and Rupahihat, resulting in the arrest of nine people." Nagaon Police tweeted, "Huge amount of narcotics intended for distribution found." The Assam Police Department continues to conduct drug-related activities.
