Avalanche in Siachen led the death of two Army personnel on Sunday, according to military sources said. The incident is reported in sub-sector Haneef on Sunday noon.

The sources information claims two soldiers rescue by 7 pm and they succumbed to their injuries. Other soldiers and porters are stable after the avalanche struck. Others are out of danger zone after the incident. The Siachen glacier is at the height of around 20,000 ft in the Karakoram range. It is known as the highest militarized zone in the world where soldiers have to battle frostbite and high winds.

Dye to which avalanches and landslides are common at the glacier. Temperatures can also drop to as low as minus 60 degrees Celsius which makes it more difficult to survive in such areas.
