Bengaluru: A police sub-inspector has been arrested on charges of looting Rs 26.5 lakh from a person in Karnataka and another person who claims to be a journalist. On Monday, the police said that 31-year-old police sub-inspector Jeevan Kumar Thomas and 44-year-old Gyan Prakash Anthonappa, who claimed to be a reporter in a Kannada newspaper, were arrested on August 19 for allegedly robbing a man named Shiv Kumaraswamy. 

He further told that the incident happened on the arrival of Kumaraswamy near Chikkapet metro station in the morning. He told that 3 people stopped Kumaraswamy, kidnapped him and made him sit in a car and snatched the phone from him. After this, the accused took Kumaraswamy to the Unity Building and snatched money from him. Then these criminals dumped him at a hotel near Lal Bagh and threatened him that he should leave quietly.

On the basis of the complaint, a case of kidnapping, illegal possession, intimidation, robbery and conspiracy has been registered against the accused. Police further said that during the investigation, the involvement of the Sub Inspector and his accomplice was reported, after which both have been arrested. It has been reported that the friends of these people had given information about Kumaraswamy carrying a hefty amount. The police is looking for other accused.
