Shameless: Two party leaders raped a woman worker of CPIM

Kochi: Police have registered a rape case against two CPIM leaders in Kozhikode district of Kerala. The woman who made the allegations is also a branch committee member of the party. The first accused Pulullah Parambath Baburaj is the Secretary of CPIM Mulliari Branch, while the second accused is secretary of Pathiarakkara area of Youth Wing DYFI of TP Lijeesh CPIM. The CPIM has expelled the two leaders after the case came to light.

The woman who made the allegation is married and has two children. The woman in her complaint said that Baburaj had raped her three months ago by threatening to kill her. He then continued to blackmail and rape several times threatening to tell the woman's husband and locals about the incident. Lijeesh then raped threatening to make the two relationships public. Fed up with this, the victim approached the Police Inspector of Vadkara and complained about the matter. The woman has also demanded protection from the police terming her life as a threat.

Recently, the Left Government of the State came under fire for making insensitive remarks against women by Mc Josaffin, former Chairperson of the Commission for Women and a member of the Central Committee of the CPIM. Women workers of BJP and Congress had protested against Josaffin after which she resigned on Friday (June 25, 2021).
