Muzaffarpur: Six-year-old boy Bholaji died of a Chamki fever at Srikrishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur on Friday. With this, the death toll due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) has increased to 15. This is the second death due to bright fever within 24 hours at SKMCH. One and a half-year-old Kriti Kumari died of Chamki fever in the hospital on Thursday evening.
According to a health bulletin issued by the same Muzaffarpur district administration, Bholaji, a resident of Pokhara village in Saraiya block of Muzaffarpur district, died in SKMCH around 12.56 pm. The child was admitted to the hospital in critical condition on August 10. Kirti of Sudhiyanur village in Maniari block of Muzaffarpur district breathed her last 1 day ago. Kirti, a resident of Sudhiyanur village in Maniari block of Muzaffarpur district, was admitted to the SKMCH on Wednesday with symptoms of Chamki fever.
The same test report confirmed that she is infected with Chamki fever. SKMCH, Dr. Gopal Shankar Sahni, Head, Department of Pediatrics said that the girl was brought to the hospital in a critical condition. He said the doctors tried their best to save the baby but to no avail. This is the third death due to Chamki fever in the hospital within a week. Rajendra, a resident of Turkish Chhajan village in the Kudhani block of Muzaffarpur district, died of Chamki fever on August 7.
