Mumbai: The belongings and cash of two MLAs coming to Mumbai to attend the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Assembly have been stolen from the trains. A police official said in a briefing on Tuesday that the theft took place between Kalyan and Thane railway stations. He said both incidents took place Monday. Congress MLA Rahul Bondre was on his way to Mumbai from Malkapur to Vidarbha Express while Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Raimulkar was on his way to Mumbai from Jalna to Devgiri Express.

According to Bondra's complaint, the Vidarbha Express stopped at platform No. 5 in Kalyan. The unidentified man then entered the AC compartment reserved for the MLAs and took his wife's purse and a file and escaped. Bondre chased the thief, but he managed to escape. Officials said the MLA's wife's purse contained Rs 51,000 in cash and an ATM card.
A similar incident has taken place between Kalyan and Thane railway stations along with Shiv Sena MLA Raimulkar. He was coming to Mumbai by train with his colleagues. His mobile phone, Rs 10,000 cash and identity cards were stolen when he woke up between the two railway stations. Two separate cases have been filed in connection with these.
