Coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in India. Scientists are working day and night to make the virus vaccine in many countries of the world. Meanwhile, after Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, the Indian Drug Regulatory Agency has allowed pharmaceutical companies Cipla and Hetero to manufacture and market antiviral drug remediesvir for patients with coronavirus.

The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), in view of the emergency need for drugs in the wake of an outbreak of coronovirus, allowed domestic firm Glenmark Pharmaceuticals to manufacture and market the antiviral drug favipirvir for the treatment of moderately afflicted patients. Hetero and Cipla have been approved on Saturday.

In addition, the Union Ministry of Health in its Clinical Management Protocol for COVID-19 recommends the use of Remedisvir on patients with moderate stage of the disease, who are on oxygen. This medicine is included only as an emergency medicine. The clinical management protocol for corona virus states that it is not recommended for kidney disease, pregnant women, and those under 12 years of age. The drug administered as an injection is to be given at a dose of 200 mg a day. And then 100 mg daily should be used for five days. Cipla and Hetero Labs have already tied up with US pharma giant Gilead Sciences, the patent holder for drug remediesvir.
