Telangana: Two more cases of Omicron variant were recorded in Telangana on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the state to nine, according to a top health official. While eight of the passengers who tested positive for the new Covid-19 variant entered the state, the ninth flew to Kolkata after arriving in Hyderabad.

Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, the director of public health, informed reporters that seven cases had been discovered among air passengers arriving from countries other than "at-risk" countries, while two instances had been discovered among fliers from "at-risk" countries. Three Kenyans and one Sudanese were among those who tested positive for Omicron, according to him. Abu Dhabi sent two cases, while Dubai, the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic each sent one.

According to the director, a woman who arrived from the UK airport tested negative for Covid-19 and was sent to Hanamkonda, where she was placed under home quarantine. Her samples were sent for genome sequencing following the second test, which revealed she was positive for Covid after a week. She is contaminated with Omicron, according to the results.

He pointed out, Omicron instances have been reported from 90 nations, with 88 cases found in 11 states in India thus far. He also stated that over 95% of the patients were asymptomatic.
