Mumbai: A total of 41 cases of this variant have now reached 41 in the country after a passenger who arrived in Gujarat from South Africa was infected with the Omicron variant. However, Maharashtra still remains the hotspot of Omicron. The person found infected with Omicron in Gujarat reached Delhi via Kenya and Abu Dhabi on December 3, although his corona report was negative. In the second Test on December 4, the man's report was negative, though he was then hospitalized for isolation.

On December 8, the man was again diagnosed with corona testing and was found infected with the Omicron variant. The man is said to be undergoing treatment at home and all his relatives, four fellow passengers, whose reports have been found negative, were also examined. Two new cases of omicron variants have also been reported in Maharashtra last Monday. Both the patients reportedly have a travel history in Dubai.

The Omicron variant of Corona has so far been found in six States of the country - Maharashtra (20), Rajasthan (9), Karnataka (3), Gujarat (4), Kerala (1) and Andhra Pradesh (1), and two Union Territories - Delhi (2) and Chandigarh (1). In view of the rapid spread of the variant, the government has asked the people not to relax corona rules. The omicron variant of the corona was first found in South Africa and now the variant has spread to about 70 countries.
