Hyderabad: Cases of new variants of corona virus Omicron are on the rise in the country. Two new cases of Omicron have been confirmed in Hyderabad, Telangana. Newly found Omicron patients in Hyderabad include a 24-year-old Kenyan citizen and a Somali citizen. This has been confirmed by Srinivasa Rao, public health director of the Telangana government.

The infected include a man and a woman. The male is from Somalia, while the woman is a citizen of Kenya. Both infected are being tracked. The state government has directed to strengthen the testing mechanism at Hyderabad International Airport, among other measures, in view of the threat of Omicron. It said passengers coming from 11 countries should be tested RT-PCR, which have been placed under the category of risk by the Central Government.
