ISLAMABAD: Unidentified gunmen shot and murdered two Sikh traders in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to Peshawar police. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday. The incident occurred in a popular market area of Peshawar's provincial capital, where gunmen on motorcycles attacked shopkeepers in an apparent targeted killing before fleeing the scene, according to reports.

The traders were members of a minority group who maintained spice shops in the market, according to a statement from Capital City Police Officer Ijaz Khan. Later, Khan told the media that a search operation in the Khyber district was underway to apprehend the alleged attackers.

Following the attack, a minority group in the city staged a protest, asking that the government arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan's Prime Minister, denounced the violence and requested the provincial administration to safeguard the safety of minority traders. The attack has not been claimed by any group.
