Pathanamthitta: Police on Saturday turned back to two women who attempted to enter the Sabarimala temple in Kerala. As per reports Reshma Nishant and Shaneela Sajesh from tried even earlier this month. However, today six men had accompanied them

The women were asked to return by the police amid fear of protests by a mob that had gathered in Pathanamthitta district’s Pamba .

After SC quashed the centuries-old tradition that restricted the entry of women in menstrual ages into the temple, women have in hordes attempted to enter the Lord Ayyappa temple.

The verdict of apex court  triggered a massive backlash from sentimentalists who have resorted to violence and protests across the country, along with appeals with the SC to revoke the ruling.

Earlier, many women have attempted to enter the shrine ignoring threats to their lives. Earlier this week, Kanaka Durga, one of two women who created  by entering and offering prayers at the Lord Ayyappa shrine earlier this month, was attacked by her mother-in-law at home.
