The UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has introduced the National Green Certificates Programme to promote environmentally friendly building practices. This initiative aligns with the goals of the National Demand-side Management Programme and National Green Building Regulations, focusing on energy efficiency, water management, indoor air quality, and sustainable building materials.

Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, highlighted that the programme serves as a classification system to enhance sustainability and reduce carbon emissions in commercial buildings. "Our ministry is dedicated to advancing universal eco-friendly practices, marking this programme as a significant step towards a green economy and sustainable development," he said.

Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, emphasized the programme's integration of sustainability and decarbonization efforts in the building sector. The initiative aims to decrease energy and water consumption while minimizing carbon emissions. Partnerships with First Abu Dhabi Bank, Aldar Properties, Pact Carbon, and Meagle Energy will provide green financing, technical support, and energy audits to ensure effective implementation and support the UAE's target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Under the National Green Certificates Programme, Meagle Energy has entered into an MoU with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) to provide energy auditing and Measurement and Verification (M&V) services. These services will adhere to MoEI's standards and guidelines for assessing energy efficiency in buildings.

Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, emphasized that this collaboration reflects their commitment to integrating environmental sustainability practices into the building sector. The programme aims to reduce energy and water consumption, thereby lowering the sector's carbon footprint.

By supporting UAE's net-zero by 2050 target, this initiative contributes to developing infrastructure that meets future sustainability needs. The partnership with Meagle Energy and other entities ensures comprehensive support towards achieving these ambitious sustainability goals.
