Uber, the world's largest ride-hailing service, is planning to add up to 50,000 Tesla electric cars to its fleet. Uber has announced a partnership with Hertz, the rental car firm that just signed a deal with Tesla to get at least one lakh Tesla electric vehicles by next year.

Uber has stated that by 2023, it would provide 50,000 Tesla electric cars to its drivers as a rental option. From next month, Hertz will be able to hire automobiles in cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Washington, DC. Uber plans to extend its Tesla fleet for rent to more locations in the future.

Hertz stated on Monday that by the end of next year, it will have ordered 100,000 Tesla electric automobiles. The agreement, which is one of the world's largest electric car orders, boosted Tesla's stock price and pushed its market worth beyond $1 trillion. Hertz will share half of its electric vehicle fleet with Uber, which has a deal with Carvana, a US-based used car firm.

Following the Hertz agreement, Uber drivers will be able to hire a Tesla car for as little as $334 per week (roughly converted to Rs 25,000). For the time being, Uber drivers may rent Tesla's Model 3 electric automobiles. The rental price also includes insurance and automobile maintenance. According to Uber, when the initiative extends in the next few days, the cost of the rental will drop by approximately $35.

Uber's conversion to electric vehicles is a key step toward the company's goal of having a 100 percent electric taxi fleet in the United States, Europe, and Canada by 2030, and internationally by 2040. Uber, on the other hand, is having trouble locating drivers who can afford to hire electric cars.
