New Delhi:The Maharashtra government, which is facing a shortage of money, has spent nearly Rs 6 crore to handle deputy CM Ajit Pawar's social media accounts. Pawar also has finance and planning departments. According to media reports, the state general administration department on Wednesday implemented an order signed by under-secretary RN Musale on the modalities for appointing an external agency to handle social media accounts.

The agency has also been given the task of ensuring that the decision taken by Ajit Pawar reaches the general public. According to Musale's order, the external agency will handle Ajit Pawar's Twitter handle and Facebook, blogger, YouTube and Instagram accounts. It will also handle sound cloud, WhatsApp bulletins, telegram channels and SMS. The external agency will be appointed in consultation with the Deputy CM's Secretariat and Directorate General of Information and Public Relations.

The order mentions that the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) in Maharashtra lacks professional and technical capacity to handle social media, so it was felt that it would be correct if an external agency was hired. In his order, Musale said, "It will be the responsibility of the external agency to ensure that important decisions and messages reach the people and they are able to communicate with the deputy CM on Twitter handles, Facebook, bloggers, YouTube, Instagram, Sound Cloud, WhatsApp and Telegram channels. ’
