Uddhav Thackeray asks PM Modi to restore Old tax system, admit if GST has failed

In the Shiv Sena's annual 'Dusshera Melava' rally in Mumbai on October 25 Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a long speech blasting against the Centre over a list of issues ranging from the GST compensation to COVID-19 vaccine. The crowd consists of 50 people. Thackarey said "Rather than working on improving the economy, steps are taken to topple governments. We are heading towards anarchy", said Thackerey and he adds Shiv Sena was not greedy for power.

CM said that time for the center to reconsider the present Goods and Services Tax (GST) system and if necessary, to modify the system as states are not benefiting from this system. The Maharashtra government was not refunded its INR 38000 crore GST dues causing a huge financial crisis for the state amid the coronavirus pandemic. He said PM should honestly admit the GST system is not working and bring back the old system of taxation.

 He challenged the BJP to topple his 11-month-old coalition government in the state. He asked if only Bihar people are from India to get free vaccine and the remaining states are from pakistan or Kazakhastan. The usual place seeing Sena's annual Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar area is replaced at the Savarkar hall in Dadar due to coronavirus restrictions.
