Russian football teams have been ruled out of the Women's European Championship, the Men's Champions League and the 2023 Women's World Cup qualifying. UEFA has also imposed this ban due to Russia's military attack on Ukraine. Earlier in February, FIFA and UEFA also banned Russia's national and club teams from playing international football, including the men's World Cup playoffs.

Those decisions have been appealed by the Russian Football Federation to the Sports Arbitration. Appeals are also expected to be filed against the latest sanctions. UEFA said on Monday that Portugal will replace Russia at the Women's Euro 2022 to be held in England in July. Russia has qualified in the playoffs by defeating Portugal. At the same time, in the Champions League, the champion team of Scotland is going to replace Russian Premier League winner Zenit St. Petersburg.

This season's Champions League final is also going to be held in Paris instead of Russia. Russia is also not going to get a place in the Europa League and Europa Conference League next season. Russia's bid to host the men's Euro 2028 or 2032 has also been rejected.
