UIDAI has advised people not to share their Aadhar Card number on social media website like its former Director General and currently TRAI chairman RS Sharma. Issuing the notice on Aadhaar number, warnings have been given in the matter of challenging others by putting their identities of 12 digit number on social media, as it is against the law.

The Indian Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman RS Sharma on Saturday posted his Aadhar number on Twitter and gave it to everyone, challenging them to show the details. In doing so, their purpose was to remove the doubts about the identity of the person being privy to the theft of Aadhar data. 

Some people claimed to have collected their details with the help of Sharma's Aadhar number, but Sharma had dismissed it. After this, UIDAI also claimed that Sharma's data was not received from the server on Sunday. The Indian Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI), in a statement issued on Tuesday, advised other people not to do this. 

UIDAI said that the base number of 12 digits is also a confidential document like a PAN card or a bank account, which should be presented for identification certification only if it is needed. On not doing so, one can be punished under the Aadhaar Act and other IT rules. Apart from this, even after getting certification through the Aadhar Number of another person, there can be a jail sentence under criminal activity.
