London: Britain reported another 44,932  Covid-19 cases on Friday, according to official figures released on Friday. It brought the total number of Covid cases in the country to 8,361,651. The country's coronavirus-related death toll rose by 145 to a total of 138,379. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test, as per reports.

The data came as National Health Service Test and Trace estimated that 400,000 coronavirus test samples were processed through the Immensa Health Clinic lab in Wolverhampton and an estimated 43,000 people may have been given incorrect results between September 8 and October 12.

Australia’s capital Canberra has come out of lockdown with authorities reporting over 99 percent of the population aged 12 and older having at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Sydney came out of lockdown on Monday with only the 73.5 percent of the population aged 16 and older who were fully-vaccinated allowed to enjoy the new freedoms including going to restaurants, hairdressers and non-essential shopping.

New South Wales state, which includes Sydney, has announced it will end hotel quarantine requirements for fully-vaccinated international travellers from November 1 in a major relaxation in pandemic restrictions.
