Ukraine's military claims that Russian paratroopers have landed in the country's beleaguered second-largest city, Kharkiv, as per BBC report.

Russian troops have parachuted into Kharkiv, intensifying an onslaught on Ukraine's second-largest city, which was hit by explosions on Tuesday that killed dozens of civilians. The aerial assault began shortly as air raid sirens began to ring throughout Kharkiv and the surrounding region, according to the Ukrainian military. The report adds, the Russian troops targeted a regional military hospital, and battle is still going on.

Kharkiv has been at the epicenter of much of the recent bloodshed in Ukraine. Around 08.00 local time on Tuesday, a missile hit the local government headquarters in Ukraine's second-largest city, sending a big flame into the sky and destroying automobiles and nearby buildings.

On Tuesday evening, another strike broke out in one of Kharkiv's residential areas. The incident was later labeled a war crime by Ukrainian President Zelensky.

According to emergency personnel, at least 17 people were murdered and many were injured in Kharkiv on Tuesday. Some pundits believe Russia's artillery strikes on civilian areas are an attempt to undercut Ukraine's desire to resist, the report read.
