LUGANO: A two-day Ukraine Recovery Conference has begun today, with the goal of creating the guiding principles and framework for future rehabilitation of the conflict-torn nation. Ignazio Cassis, president of the Swiss Confederation and head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, said in his opening address on Monday that the conference participants would be expected to define the standards for handling assistance to Ukraine and for the division of responsibilities among the various partners.

In his opening address on Monday, Ignazio Cassis, president of the Swiss Confederation and head of the Federal Deptt of Foreign Affairs, said  that  the conference participants are expected to set the criteria for handling help to Ukraine and for the distribution of roles among the various partners.

"Building back better and establishing the circumstances for prosperity and intact lives should be the roadmap for the sustainable reorganisation of the economy," he said.

Denys Shmyhal, the prime minister of Ukraine, who was present at the meeting in person, stated that his nation would require $750 billion for a three-stage restoration plan.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, spoke at the meeting via video link from Kiev and noted that the plan also addresses institutional development in the nation. Zelensky highlighted increased security, technological advancement, adherence to environmental standards, transparency, and the project's integration with Ukraine's actual economic life as some of the fundamental concepts and objectives.
