Kiev: In a significant development in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Ukrainian military officials reported notable successes in their counteroffensive against Russian forces in the southern and southeastern regions of the country.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry announced on Monday that its forces had successfully repelled Russian troops around the village of Staromaiorske, located approximately 60 miles southwest of the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk. Additionally, the ministry disclosed that Ukrainian forces were actively advancing on two fronts in the south, particularly in the vicinity of Kherson and Mykolaiv.
