Umaji Naik, the great revolutionary who raised his voice against the British government in India's freedom struggle, was born on this day. Umaji Naik was a great revolutionary of Maharashtra and he had put his nose in the nose of the British for 16 years. Let me tell all of you that Krantiveer Umaji Naik was born on 7th September 1791 at Bhiwandi village in Pune district. His childhood went to the premises of Purandar Fort and he was taught sword-wielding, horse riding, spear-wielding, dandapatta, etc.

Umaji's mother used to tell him the stories of Shivaji Maharaj and the story of Shivaji Maharaj awakened a sense of revolution in his mind. After that, he learnt every art very soon and dreamt of driving the British Government out of India. Let us tell all of you that Umaji Naik's ideal was Shivaji Maharaj and he declared a revolt against the British Government by giving Bhandara to Khandobarai of Jejuri along with revolutionaries like Vithuji Naik, Krishna Naik, Khushaba Ramoshi.

Not only that, Umaji Naik looted the British and started serving the poor people. However, Umaji naik was hanged on February 3, 1832 at Kacheri, a case case of Khatkamal Ali in Pune. It is said that the British had kept Umaji Naik's body hanging from a tree because they had to create panic in the minds of the revolutionaries. Umaji Naik had raised his voice against the British government and wanted no revolutionary rebel to see Umaji Naik's plight.
