Srinagar: After meeting Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, said on Saturday that he did not get any clear answer on the situation in the state. Omar said that when he asked the Governor about the Amarnath yatra being interrupted, he cited security. Omar had earlier met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said PM Modi did not give any indication that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has deteriorated.
Abdullah said he would do everything possible to uphold Article 35A granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, Omar has demanded that PM Modi should make a statement in Parliament on the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir. On the question of increasing the number of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, Omar said Governor Satyapal Malik has assured that all this is being done in view of the preparations for the elections in the state.
Omar said that the Governor should stick to the promises he has made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Omar said that more tension has arisen after the order on Amarnath Yatra, which has affected the rest of the people. Given that I met my fellow Governor Sahib, that's what's happening in the state. Because we don't know anything from anywhere. We want to hear from Parliament that the voice of Jammu and Kashmir need not be alarmed.
