Every year Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) organises Kartik Mela (fair) in the month of Kartik in which many cultural programmes are organised. But this year owing to Covid-19 pandemic the UMC is organising the fair for only 3 days the fair will start from Monday. During the fair only cultural programmes will be organised. Gayatri Shakti Peeth members will light up the candle to inaugurate the fair

Importance of Kartik Purnima 2020: Kartik Purnima is a famous festival that is celebrated in India on the Purnima of the Hindu month of Kartik. Also known as 'Tripuri Purnima' or 'Tripurari Purnima', this festival has a special significance to the Gods and is sometimes known as their festival of lights. This festival is also celebrated in Sri Lanka but is known as 'Karthikai Deepam' there. This year, Kartik Purnima will be observed on November 30. Coincidentally it will fall on the fourth Lunar Eclipse or Chandra Grahan of this year. So as you observe Kartik Purnima, here we have compiled everything about this day, from date to tithi and significance:

According to Hindu mythology, this festival is one of the important and ancient festivals of India. Usually, devotees take a bath in the Ganga river on this day and this day is known as Kartik Snana. On this day, Lord Shiva killed a trio of Asura brothers who was known as Tipurasura, and Lord Shiva took the avatar of Tipurari to kill them.
