Lucknow: Today, the MP-MLA court in Prayagraj gave its verdict in the 17-year-old Umesh Pal kidnapping case. The court convicted three accused, including former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Atiq Ahmed, and sentenced them to life imprisonment. Apart from Atiq Ahmed, the court has also convicted Hanif, Dinesh Pasi in this kidnapping case. While seven people, including Atiq's brother Ashraf, have been acquitted.
Tell that, Umesh Pal was the main witness in the 2005 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal murder case. A case has been registered against the accused in the Umesh Pal incident under sections 147, 148, 149, 323, 341, 504, 506, 342, 364, 34, 120B IPC and Seventh Criminal Law Amendment Act.
Let us inform you that, earlier on Monday (March 27), Atiq Ahmed was brought to Prayagraj from Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail under the tight security of the UP Police. His brother Ashraf was brought from Bareilly to Prayagraj. Along with this, another accused person, Farhan, was also brought here.
