UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his condolences on the death of melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, referring to the 'Nightingale of India' as the voice of the subcontinent, said the spokesperson Farhan Haq.

On Sunday, Haq said: "That's terrible news! At this time, the SG (Secretary-General) expresses his sympathies to her family, as well as the people and government of India. She was an entire subcontinent's voice." T.S. Tirumurti, India's Permanent Representative, described her death as a "irreplaceable loss."

"The nation has suffered an irreplaceable loss. The world of music has lost an invaluable figure. #LataMangeshkar will always be a Bharat Ratna in our hearts "he wrote in a tweet

He also retweeted a statement of grief from Maldives President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih, who stated Mangeshkar's music transcended cultural boundaries.

Solih wrote on Twitter: "I was shocked to learn of #LataMangeshkar's death. Her music transcended cultural and linguistic barriers, bringing joy to millions of people all over the world. India has lost a national gem, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family and the Indian people."
