New York: The UN mission in the Central African Republic (CAR) has condemned the attack of armed groups in Damara on Saturday and Bangassou on Sunday.

The UN special representative and head of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in CAR (MINUSCA), Mankeur Ndiaye said that all these attacks take place in a context of disruption of the elections. According to UN News, despite attempts by rebel groups to obstruct presidential and legislative elections, nearly 2 million Central Africans cast their votes. Ndiaye reminded that "within the framework of Resolution 2552, MINUSCA has a role of securing the elections." He further added, "I reaffirm the mission's determination to keep this commitment."

The continuous attack has been reported in the area. Since December 19, a coalition of rebel groups, which occupies two  has been reportedly carrying out offensive to disrupt the presidential and legislative elections that took place on December 27.
