UN Secretary-General praises Kerala in fight against Corona

Public Service Day is celebrated in the United Nations on Tuesday. Organized by a video conferencing, the ceremony also included UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other top UN dignitaries, praising all leaders who are effectively dealing with the coronavirus. Kerala Health Minister KK Selja was also named in this list of leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, Shailaja said that the experiences of dealing with the NIFA virus and two floods - 2018 and 2019 where the health sector played an important role, it was these experiences that helped in the timely settlement of Coronavirus (Covid-19). She further said that right from the time when Covid cases were registered in Wuhan, Kerala got on track with WHO and followed every standard operating protocol and international norms and hence, we keep the contact spread rate below 12.5% and the mortality rate was 0.6%.

On the other hand, cases of coronavirus are increasing rapidly in the country. During the last 24 hours, about 16 thousand new cases have been reported and 465 people have also died during this period. As the number of people infected with the virus increases, the graph of people getting healthy is also increasing rapidly. So far, more than 2.58 lakh people have become completely healthy. More than five thousand people have lost their lives.
