United Nations: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has denounced Saudi-led coalition attacks on a detention centre in Yemen's Saada city, according to his spokeswoman.

According to preliminary accounts, at least 60 convicts have died and over 100 have been injured. More airstrikes have been reported elsewhere in Yemen, with allegations of civilian deaths and injuries, including children, according to UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric. The report add, an airstrike on telecommunications facilities in Hodeidah has seriously interrupted crucial internet services across most of Yemen.

"International humanitarian law prohibits assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure, as the Secretary-General reminds all parties. He also reminds all parties of their international humanitarian law duty to protect civilians from the hazards posed by military operations, based on the principles of proportionality, distinction, and precaution "according to the statement

Guterres has called for swift, effective, and transparent investigations into these incidents in order to ensure accountability, as well as an immediate de-escalation of the situation, according to the statement.  The UN Secretary-General also encourages all parties to engage with his Special Envoy for Yemen to advance the political process and find a negotiated settlement to end the war in Yemen.
