Neil Patrick Harris series Uncoupled was released on Netflix this Friday. The 8-episode queer show has received a great amount of love from the fans who binge-watch the show following its release. The show casts Harris as the main character alongside Tisha Campbell, Emerson Brooks, Brooks Ashmanskas, Marcia Gay Harden and more.
The official synopsis of the rom-com series is as follows, "Michael's life seemed to be perfect until his husband blindsided him after 17 years of marriage. He has to confront the nightmares of losing his soulmate and suddenly finding himself as a single gay man in his mid-40s." The is created by the creator of Emily in Paris and Sex and the City, and the executive producer of Modern Family has made the show one of the top-tier.
Dating in middle age is hard enough for anyone; what Darren Star’s latest trifle, Netflix’s “Uncoupled,” argues is that it’s especially hard for gay men. Harris plays Michael, a New York real estate broker (and serial monogamist) who seems to have it all: a great job, a tight body, and a loving life partner of seventeen years named Colin (Tuc Watkins) who’s just turned fifty. But when Colin announces he’s moving out with little to no explanation or sign of trouble, Michael’s thrown for a loop and is suddenly forced to re-enter the gay dating scene of NYC. His similarly-aged friends, gay weatherman Billy (Emerson Brooks) and out-of-shape art dealer Stanley (Brooks Ashmanskas), warn him of struggles ahead: “At our age, you’re invisible.” But of course, Michael’s rich, and white, so things seem to go pretty well for him.
Fans' reactions on Twitter were worth reading, as many praised the exceptional performance of Neil Patris Harris, and many talked about the brilliant performance of Tisha Campbell with her extraordinary acting skills. The show was received with a wave of positive reviews from fans and critics. Netizens are also demanding a second season after watching the first one.
