United Nations: The UN General Assembly has voted to defer action on the representatives of Afghanistan and Myanmar, meaning that the current representatives will continue to serve their nations. According to sources, the current representative of Afghanistan, Ghulam M. Isaczai, was chosen by former President Ashraf Ghani's government prior to the Taliban's takeover in August.

Prior to the February 1 military coup, Myanmar's representative, Kyaw Moe Tun, was chosen by the elected National League for Democracy administration. The Taliban has selected Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, its Qatari spokesperson, as its permanent representative, while Myanmar's military junta has named Aung Thurein to the position. None of them have been recognised by the international community. On Monday, the General Assembly passed a resolution approving the Credentials Committee's report without a vote.

The Credentials Committee reported that there were two competing communications on Afghanistan's and Myanmar's presence at the current General Assembly session. "The Committee requested that it defer its decision on the credentials of Myanmar's representatives and the credentials of Afghanistan's representatives to the 76th session of the General Assembly."
