Patna: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has been issued an e-challan for overspeeding by the Bihar Transport Department. The e-challan was generated after Mr. Paswan’s vehicle was detected exceeding speed limits by the newly implemented e-detection system at a toll plaza in Bihar.

Mr. Paswan was reportedly traveling on a national highway from Hajipur to Champaran when the incident occurred. The e-detection system, part of a recent initiative to enforce traffic regulations more effectively, captured the overspeeding violation and automatically issued the challan.

In the past week alone, the Bihar Transport Department and traffic police have issued over 16,700 e-challans, amounting to ₹9.49 crore in fines, through this advanced system. The e-detection technology is installed at 13 toll plazas across the state, monitoring vehicles for violations of the Motor Vehicle Act. The system not only checks for speed but also issues e-challans in cases where vehicles lack required documents.

Out of the total 16,755 e-challans issued, 9,676 were to vehicles registered in other states, while 7,079 were issued to vehicles registered within Bihar. This comprehensive enforcement effort, which began from August 7 to August 15, underscores the state's commitment to improving road safety and regulatory compliance.
