On Monday, Union minister Bhupender Yadav examined the "preservation and upkeep" of Manipur's Loktak Lake. Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh and BJP national spokesman Sambit Patra joined Yadav. The leaders also paid a visit to Manipur's Keibul Lamjao National Park (KLNP).

The Sangai people live in the KLNP in Manipur (brow antlered deer). After inspecting the state of the Loktak lake, Yadav stated that as a union minister, he is responsible for completely executing the lake's integrated management plan.

The Loktak Lake, according to the union minister, has the distinction of being the largest freshwater lake in the whole Northeast. It is known for floating land masses known as phumdis that "cannot be found anywhere else on the planet." Bhupender Yadav, a Union minister, stated that Loktak is not just a lake, but also a historically important landmark in India's struggle for independence.
