Union Minister Smriti Irani has tweeted that she has tested positive and asked her contacts to get tested at the earliest. On October 28, she informed in her tweet, "It is rare for me to search for words while making an announcement; hence here’s me keeping it simple — I’ve tested positive for #COVID and would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest".

The Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles and Women & Child Development, Smriti Irani is the new joiner of the political leaders and top leaders who have tested positive for the deadly COVID-19.  Home Minister Amit Shah, late President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu,Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnawis, RBI Governor Shakthikanda Das among others have tested positive for the contagion.

In the previous month, Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav among others had tested positive for COVID-19. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has tweeted a wish to Irani for a speedy recovery.
