Dubai: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) spacecraft has entered into the orbit of Mars on Tuesday. After this success of the first interplanetary mission of the Arab world, the ground controller at the UAE's Space Center in Dubai was no longer happy. After traveling 300 million miles in almost seven months, it has entered the orbit of the red planet.

The orbiter fired its main engines for 27 minutes to enter the orbit of Mars. This slowed down the vehicle and was captured by the gravity of Mars. After 15 minutes the orbiter sent signals to Earth. Mission director Omran Shroff announced the success of this mission. The space mission was launched in June 2020 from the Tanegashima Space Center in southern Japan. This vehicle will revolve in its orbit for one Mars year, i.e. 687 days.

The purpose of this mission is to collect information about the environment and weather of the red planet. The mission will study the upper atmosphere and climate change from the orbit of the orbiter (44,000 km x 22,000 km). The UAE project cost $ 200 million, which includes the launch but not the mission operations.
