UN Secretary-General is unhappy with Delhi violence, appeals to people to maintain peace

New Delhi: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is deeply saddened by the news of Delhi violence. Guterus has asked people to exercise restraint and avoid violence. United Nations general secretary spokesman Stephen Dujarric said the general secretary was deeply saddened by the news of casualties after the protests in Delhi.

He said that as he did in similar circumstances, he has asked for maximum restraint and avoid violence. Meanwhile, the number of people who lost their lives in Delhi violence has increased. 1 more death occurred in Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital. The number of those who died in the Delhi violence has gone up to 28. It also includes 2 deaths at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital.

Earlier on Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi made a statement on Delhi violence for the first time. PM Modi tweeted on Wednesday, urging people to maintain peace. PM Modi tweeted, "A detailed review has been done on the situation in different parts of Delhi. Police and other agencies are working to ensure peace restoration." Urging to remain calm to restore normalcy, PM Modi said in another tweet that, "I urge all sisters and brothers to maintain peace and brotherhood. It is necessary for peace to be restored at the earliest ."
