UP CM announces financial aid for Banda boat tragedy victims' kin

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation amount of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of Banda boat tragedy victims. The Chief Minister has directed two ministers namely Rakesh Sachan and Ramkesh Nishad,  to reach the spot and oversee the rescue operations which are underway.

According to district magistrate Anurag Patel, 13 people have been rescued so far, while 17 remain missing.
SP Banda, Abhinandan, said that the boat was carrying over 35 passengers on the Yamuna river when it lost control due to strong winds and capsized.

Four dead have been recovered, and the boatman has been apprehended. He said that rescue activities would continue until all missing people are traced.

Meanwhile, search operation continued on Friday morning for 17 people who are still missing after their boat capsized in the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh`s Banda district on Thursday. The boat was carrying between 30 and 40 persons from Fatehpur to Marka village. So far, three bodies have been recovered. According to reports, the operation was halted on Thursday night by teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

Teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reached the location promptly.
