Lucknow: On Thursday, Dr. Syama Prasad Moookerjee's death anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented floral tributes to him on behalf of the state's government and population.

The UP CM spoke to the media and stated, "Dr. Mookerjee spoke out strongly against the Congress government's appeasement policy in order to preserve India's unity. 

He explicitly stated that a country cannot be ruled by two leaders, two pieces of law, and two symbols ("ek desh mein do pradhan, do vidhan, aur do nishan"), and he gave his life to prove this point."

He said, "His sacrifices are the witness that it was Congress' instigation that fostered the feelings of secession and terrorism in Kashmir and India; after which they imposed Section 377 on Kashmir, while they also made attempts to impose similar illegitimate laws in the country.

Speaking about Dr. Syama Prasad Moookerjee's sacrifice in the freedom movement on his 69th death anniversary, the Yogi Adityanath said, "the news of his death in Kashmir valley-- on this day in 1953-- came as a disheartening shock to the entire country."

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amait Shash paid tribute to the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his death anniversary. PM Modi said that every Indian owed him for his unmatched efforts to advance the country's unity.

HOme Minsiter said, Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee's life was a wonderful amalgamation of new ideas of national unity, cultural dedication, education and development. Every Indian is indebted for his supreme sacrifice for the struggle to protect Bengal and to keep Kashmir an integral part of India."
