Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has raised the political temperature of the state by making a statement that it is 'Now Mathura ki bari hai'. Keshav said the construction of the grand temple of Shriram in Ayodhya is continuing and now it is Mathura's turn. Opposition parties including Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former CM Akhilesh Yadav had reacted strongly to Keshav's statement. Now Keshav Prasad Maurya has also hit back at Akhilesh.

Maurya has said, "People from opposition parties talk about appeasement and later bow down there. A grand temple is being built on the birthplace of Ramlala in Ayodhya. Baba Vishwanath's grand corridor is being built in Kashi.' Attacking the opposition, Keshav Prasad said, 'It is the wish of every Krishna devotee to build a grand temple on the birthplace of Lord Krishna in Mathura. We have expressed our feelings through tweets. I want to ask the opposition leaders whether they oppose or support the construction of a grand temple of Sri Krishna in Mathura. The issue of elections is neither the temple of Lord Shriram nor the temple of Shri Krishnaji.' Keshav Prasad asked Akhilesh Yadav, 'Akhilesh says I am a Krishna devotee, Ram devotee, so he should answer whether Krishna wants to build a temple on janmabhoomi or not.'

Asked about the 'Mathura Ki Bari' statement, the deputy CM told media persons, "Look, there are some political parties in the opposition who play the politics of appeasement and later bow down. I would like to make it clear that a grand temple is being built on the birthplace of Shriram Lala and a grand corridor of Baba Vishwanath's temple is also being built in Kashi. In Mathura too, a grand temple was built on the birthplace of Sri Krishna, which is the desire and aspiration of every Krishna devotee. I have also expressed that sentiment.' Keshav Prasad's question has created a religious crisis for Akhilesh Yadav because if he supports the temple, his Muslim vote bank will be angry and if he opposes, till date he has described himself as the Yaduvansh of Sri Krishna, Those Yadavs may also be angry with Akhilesh.
