Lucknow: Preparations for assembly elections in UP, the country's largest state, have been completed. The SP has released a list of 30-star campaigners for the first phase of elections. All frontal presidents have also been included in the list. It also includes Akhilesh Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav, Swami Prasad Maurya. Apart from these, it also names Mulayam Singh, Jaya Bachchan and Dimple Yadav. A total of 30 persons including Ram Gopal Yadav, Ramesh Prajapati, Rajiv Rai, Siddharth Singh are named in the list. It may be recalled that only Swami Prasad Maurya, who moved from BJP to Samajwadi Party, is on the list of star campaigners of SP. Dara Singh Chauhan and Dharam Singh Saini have not been accommodated.

Let me tell you that Dara Singh and Dharam Singh Saini have been ministers in the Yogi cabinet just like Swami Prasad Maurya. Both ministers left the BJP only after Swami Prasad Maurya's resignation. However, even when these leaders joined the party in the Samajwadi party office, it was Swami Prasad Maurya who had made his stand prominently and called for Akhilesh Yadav to be made chief minister again.

Former Rajya Sabha MP Javed Ali Khan has been ranked as a Muslim face in the list of same star campaigners. In addition to Javed Ali, Mohammad Fahad, national president of the Socialist Yuvajan Sabha, has also been placed on the list. Veteran Muslim leader Azam Khan is currently in jail, so his name is not there. But no one from his family is on the list. The SP on Saturday formally announced that Akhilesh Yadav will contest the assembly elections from the Karhal seat in Mainpuri. Former party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav has a close association with the seat. Mulayam Singh Yadav was educated at Jain Inter College in Karhal and was also a teacher here. Karhal is just 2 km from Mulayam Singh Yadav's village Saifai.
