Lucknow: In order to mitigate Zika virus transmission levels, the Uttar Pradesh government has increased extensive surveillance and conducted doorstep surveys across the state. Health personnel are carrying out an elaborate exercise of mass-scale sanitisation, state-wide surveillance drives, spraying of anti-larva chemicals, fogging, and cleanliness campaigns as part of the state government's tight containment strategy to stop the spread of Zika. Health professionals have been going door to door to identify people with viral fever, vector-borne infections, and other symptoms, according to a government spokesman.

With the use of posters, the authorities are also striving to raise awareness about preventative measures to combat Zika. Apart from guaranteeing that patients afflicted with the Zika virus are treated properly in government hospitals.

Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister, has also made it mandatory for private hospitals to treat patients infected with the Zika virus, and fever cases are being tracked through an integrated command centre to guarantee there is no panic about Zika and dengue.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases have fallen sharply in the state since the devastating months at the start of the year. The Active Caseload has been reduced to 99 pushing the Recovery Rate (RR) up to a remarkable 98.8 per cent.
