SHAHJAHANPUR: At Roza station in the Shahjahanpur district, a highly decomposed body of an unidentified guy was found inside a locked restroom of the Janseva Express travelling to Amritsar. The body is of a man, visibly in his thirties.
According to GRP Sub-Inspector Karunesh Chandra Shukla, the body appeared to have travelled undetected for 900 kilometres from Banmankhi junction in Bihar to Shahjahanpur.
Only a few passengers in the general train cabin began to complain about the bad odour coming from the restroom.
The obese body was found after the rail staff forced open the bathroom door. The train stopped for five hours, then departed for Amritsar.
"The man was dressed in blue pants and a green shirt. He had no identification with us. Other GRP stations have received information. It appears that no wrongdoing occurred because the door was secured from the inside.
According to the autopsy report, the individual might have passed away before the train left Banmankhi. There should have been more alertness from the staff who scrubbed the train, "a GRP official said.
Dr. Sanjay Rai of the railway hospital mentioned that the body was at least three days old and had started to decompose. The man died after he slipped into a possible coma and there were no physical injuries seen on him," Rai said.
