Lucknow: The Supreme Court is hearing the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to approve the Kanwar yatra. As per the recent information received, a major statement of the Central Government on the Kanwar Yatra has come to light.

In the midst of the hearing, the Centre has made it clear that Kanwar yatra cannot be allowed. In fact, the Central Government has told the Supreme Court that in view of the threat of corona, the Kanwaris should not be allowed to bring Ganga water from Haridwar. However, for this, states should provide Ganga water at designated locations through tankers. Sources said the UP government has prepared a response to the Kanwar yatra. In fact, the Government is responding through ilfanama. You must know that due to corona, the Government of Uttarakhand had banned the Kanwar Yatra. Sources said the Uttar Pradesh government has said in the Supreme Court that "there will be no complete ban on Kanwar yatra in UP.''

The same UP government in its reply has also said that Kanwar yatra will be conducted symbolically in UP. At the same time, some guidelines have also been sought to be framed during the yatra. Let me tell all of you that the Supreme Court had taken suo motu cognizance of the reports of allowing Kanwar yatra in Uttar Pradesh. The court had then issued notices to the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments seeking their response on the Kanwar yatra. The court is hearing the entire case today on July 16.
