The Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad has initiated two ropeway projects in Barsana and Vrindavan aimed at reducing traffic congestion and providing a comfortable experience for tourists, particularly senior citizens. The project in Barsana, costing Rs 15.87 crore, features 12 trolleys capable of transporting over 500 people per hour, with standby rescue teams ensuring safety. Meanwhile, the feasibility study for the Vrindavan ropeway project is ongoing, designed to connect major temples and reduce travel time between the Vaishno Devi temple and Darul parking to just 32 minutes.

"The ropeway projects will not only provide thrilling experiences for tourists but also address the issue of traffic congestion," said SB Singh, Chief Executive Officer of UP Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad.

He added, "Until now, domestic and international tourists visiting Barsana had to navigate over 180 steep, old-style stairs to reach the Ladli temple. However, with the introduction of the ropeway facility, tourists, especially senior citizens, will have the opportunity to comfortably visit and pray at their temples."

The Barsana ropeway project, costing Rs 15.87 crore, consists of 12 trolleys, each capable of carrying over 500 people per hour. To ensure safety during operations, standby rescue teams will be available, officials confirmed.

Meanwhile, work on the feasibility report for the 7.9 km-long Vrindavan ropeway project is underway. This ropeway is expected to transport visitors from the Vaishno Devi temple to Darul parking in just 32 minutes.

The Vrindavan ropeway project will encompass eight stations, including the Bankey Bihari temple, ISKCON Prem Mandir, Chandroday Mandir, and Vaishno Devi temple. It will have the capacity to accommodate 2,000 people and will be installed at a height of 25 feet, according to officials.

The Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority, mandated by the state government to oversee the Barsana ropeway project, invested significant time and effort in acquiring the necessary land and obtaining permissions to clear the path for the ropeway. Land was procured from various departments, and the Development Authority spent approximately three crore rupees on this effort. Radharani Ropeway Pvt. Ltd., the company responsible for executing the project, allocated around Rs 15.5 crore for its successful completion. However, due to lockdown restrictions in China, the company faced challenges in receiving the ropeway equipment necessary for the project. Fortunately, with the easing of restrictions, a substantial shipment of goods has now been successfully received, facilitating progress towards the project's completion.
