Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav addressed a press conference soon after SP candidates registered a victory in Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha by-polls. Akhilesh Yadav thanked Mayawati for extending BSP support to SP in the by-elections and the people of both the constituencies.
In Gorakhpur, SP Pravin Kumar Nishad won with a margin of 21000 while SP candidate Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel registered victory with a margin of 59613 votes in Phulpur.
“I thank the people of Gorakhpur and Phulpur and also Mayawati,” said Yadav.
He targeted Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their ‘anti-people’ policies.
“If the government put its people in pain, then people give a befitting reply to the government. Acche Din never came, instead, people brought BJP’s bure din,” said Yadav.
“The chief minister’s statements reflect his mentality,” said Yadav on Adityanath’s ‘saanp-chhachhundar’ comment on BSP-SP alliance.
Yadav also targeted UP CM over his statement in the state assembly about Eid. Adityanath had said he doesn’t celebrate Eid because he is a Hindu.
“In the floor of the house, Adityanath had said I am a Hindu so I do not celebrate Eid. What kind of mentality is this? He had ordered encounter. The way they have demolished the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, I think, people have given them the answer,” Yadav said.
